Understanding Bandwidth
Bandwidth is measured in bits per second (bps), while file sizes are measured in bytes. Remember that 1 byte = 8 bits, so a 100 Mbps connection can theoretically transfer 12.5 MB per second (100 ÷ 8 = 12.5).
Real-world transfer speeds are often lower than theoretical maximum due to network overhead, protocol overhead, and other factors. These calculations show theoretical maximum speeds.
